Avast 5 Web Shield Problem

I have recently upgraded to the free Avast 5 version and have been having problems with the web shield. All the real time shields are running, except for the Web Shield. Nothing happens when I click the button to turn it on or the one to Fix Now.

It was previosly working, although i think it might have been conflicting with Comodo Firewall Pro. I kept getting pop ups from Comodo saying that there were unknown components in AvastSvc.exe and parent services.exe. I kept on clicking ‘allow’ and everything would work fine but Comodo didn’t seem to remember this. Maybe i just don’t understand the Comodo setting properly but I have tried turning Comodo off and then tried to start the Web Shield and it still doesn’t work.

Any ideas?

Try deleting the entry for avastSvc.exe in Comodo and reconnect to the internet that should have it ask permission again. Hopefully that will allow you to have it remember the changes.

Turning of comodo doesn’t seem to have the desired effect as blocked items still seem to be blocked.
