avast 5 - windows 7 logoff stops, explorer slow

love avast 5. it’s much better looking (and has extra functions)

BUT! i’ve got problems with windows 7. i’m running Pro on HP notebooks,
some upgrades, some fresh installs. ALL have a problem where win explorer
stops functioning (blue-pulse bar on “libraries”) and ALL fail to “log off”.
I have a report (not witnessed personally) that outlook runs slow - office 07
on windows 7.

after installing/uninstalling apps and even on a clean o/s, it’s something
to do with the new version. it seems okay in “game mode” ~ i assume
this means reduced functionality?

No sign of any problems in event logs - other than i killed power. it seems
fine on XP and Vista with the same hardware.

any thoughts or diagnostics would be helpful. i don’t have access to these
machines daily, so please be patient - i haven’t left this to die!

I’m seeing this problem as well - pc is MUCH slower booting up. I turned on gaming silent mode but that doesn’t seem to have any effect. I disabled all the real-time shields and that seems to have gotten things back to normal, but of course now i have no virus protection.

I’ll try enabling the shields one by one to see if one in particular is causing the problem.

Anyone have any additional information on this problem? Is it possible to download the 4.x version which I had no problems with?
