No, it’s beta

Its best to only run Beta on your test computer ,after you do backup

I am using the beta an three computers. I am experiencing no problems.

Not using it on my main computer because that one has a PRO license and PRO is not ready.

I think Alwil has a winner.

I guess the big questions for me are:

How will we be notified about Avast 5? :Will it just be the pop-up message that is currently in Avast 4.8 that says, 'A new version of Avast is available on the Net, click here to download it, and when we do we will get updated to version 5?

If we want to stay with Avast 4.8, how often will we get the reminder (if set to automatic) that version 5 is out?

Will right-clicking on the Avast Ball in the System Tray and selecting program updates give us the uninstall of Avast 4.8 and the install of version 5 when we choose to click on it? Or, will you have to specifically go to Avast’s website to get version 5 when it comes out?

These would be the best Q&A’s for the forum, the blog, and the homepage! Thanks in advance.

Well avast 5.0 is in beta testing so although relatively stable it isn’t recommended for a live system.

So you really are looking at the current version of avast which is 4.8.1368 and there are the Home and Pro versions. Home is free for Home and non-commercial use, or the Pro paid version for commercial use or if you want the additional functionality and configuration.
