avast! 6.0.1091 real-time scan not efficient...

Hi,

I got another problem with latest version of avast!. When I execute files with current version of avast! (6.0.1091) it takes little more time to go through avast! real-time shield and open. So I have to wait some more time to get open programs. I think new version has more improvements plus more bugs.

AND as once I’ve reported, it takes big time when executing (single) larger files…

I think real-time shield and performance measures are core factors of an Antivirus software which directly effective on performance and customer satisfaction. So hope these will be fixed soon… else substitutions may lead…

Cheers…

Could you please post in your Signature/Profile information about your system (OS, RAM, security software – AV/FW/other security software real-time and on-demand, and browser(s) so that we can help you better? Thank you.

Is this version of Avast an upgrade or a clean install. Otherwise, is Avast working fine for you?

Have you changed any of your Avast settings from default? If so, what have you changed?

It’s a clean install and no changes in settings unless turning off AutoSandBox.

My profile,

Microsoft Windows XP SP3
Pentium 4 2.0 GHz Processor
1.0 GB of RAM
avast! Internet Security 6.0.1091
Windows Firewall
ClearCloud DNS
Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
Google Chrome 11 beta

Thank you for your consideration…

I would suggest adding more RAM. Even though AIS is compatible with Windows Firewall (FW), try turning off Windows FW and see if this helps. Is MBAM Free or Pro version? If it is the Pro version, you may want to put it in the exclusions of Avast under Settings and the Field System and Behavior Shields.

Do you have this problem if you use a different browser?

Really thank you for your tips - turning off Windows firewall improved time of executing files but still persist with large files. MBAM is FREE version  And do you think it has something with Browser?

Cheers…

You could test it out with a different browser to see if it makes a difference…only way to find out.

Now I installed Firefox 4 and same problem persists when executing larger files… AND Firefox 4 takes bit more time to open homepage than Chrome.

Cheers…

Did you reboot after installing FF?

Yes, I did…

XP Home or Pro ???

Makes absolutely no difference with this issue as you are no doubt aware.

Yep, anyway mine Pro.

Cheers…

Is there any solution exist? or just another bug?

Is the hard drive formatted as NTFS or FAT32?
And what do you mean by “larger files”, exactly? Megabytes? Tens of megabytes? Hundreds of megabytes? …

Thanks
Vlk

It’s formatted as NTFS. BTW I have this problem with around 50-100MB size of files. As another member suggested me, I turned off Windows firewall and it’s improved a bit.

50-100MB executables? That’s quite a lot… what are they?

Thanks

Mostly PC Games

Appreciate your care VLK…
