This is in Windows 7 x64. Firefox will become unresponsive for a period of about 5-6 seconds every 30 seconds or so, almost like clockwork. It is not triggered by any specific type of activity, but just does it on regular intervals. If I go away from firefox for a period, it often triggers the hang when I bring it back into focus again. Webrep is disabled, and I tried disabling other firefox plugins as well. Firefox fully loads a CPU thread when this happens, so it took me a while to figure out it was actually Avast causing the problem. If I disable Avast Script Shield, the problem goes away until I re-enable it.
Hi NLC,
I’m just a forum member, but I also use FF with Avast.
Is this on a specific URL?
You could try resetting avast to Factory default and see if that changes anything.
Just for interest sake, which add-ons and plug-ins do you run?
Regards,
Hellion
