Avast 6.0 crashed after shutdown problem

I’ve tried to repair Avast 6.0 and it could not. I uninstalled 6.0 and ran aswclear6.exe and it said all was well. I re-installed 6.0.

I keep getting an RPC error and haven’t a clue what that is. Avast has a red x and will not open.
Please don’t chastise me for an updated profile when I’m stressed. The only real difference in my Vista premium is that I have svc pack 2 and ALL browsers are updated.

The shutdown problem occurred because of lightning; everything worked fine for a while except it kept dropping wireless. I fixed that but it wasn’t fixed when Avast 6.0
tried to update. I got the old package is broken message so I uninstalled/reinstalled. How can I get the new Avast running?

Download and save this version http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe then delet the copy you have now and reboot, run ccleaner and install the new version.

The version you sent is up and running. Thanks for a clear and simple answer.

Glad to help
