well… avast! 6.0.1125 works fine
but it really slows down my pc especially on startup.
is there something i can do about this?
i think it has nothing to do with my RAM or anything…
help?
Hi
homeru
Can you tell us what are yours PC specifications.
@ homeru
Generally that is the reverse of what happens.
Was this your first installation of avast ?
If it was your first installation, have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
If it was an update to avast, what version did you have before and was it a clean install ?
Might you would get the Uninstallation Problem.http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146 It’ll truly Helps you… Every Security Products are Easy to install, But hard to unistall…
How long have you been running this installation of Avast! ? Under File System Shield/Expert Settings/Advanced there are settings for populating caches at the beginning to speed things up after a few sessions.
I know i had a problem with my PC dragging when Avast would do an automatic update at startup…I deactivated automatic update and now do my updates manually…which has led to my PC being usable much sooner…Board member DavidR also has another method that could help by delaying the Avast automatic update until more time has passed since startup.
Manual updating is not recommended for everyone because you can forget to do it and not be protected against the latest threats…
I know someone here can help you with this…Whatever the cause may turn out to be…because they helped me.
If it is across the board (and at startup) the delaying the auto update check won’t help with that, which is why we are asking the other questions.
So I think we should wait for some feedback from homeru before diving in with suggestions.
Sorry for the suggestion…But it seemed everyone had misinterpreted part the question…i’ll bow out of here now…Good luck!
