Avast! 6 and site blocking

Site blocking works well when using Internet Explorer and Firefox, but not when using Palemoon browser (a speedier version of Firefox) which is my browser of choice. Is there any way to force Avast to monitor http traffic in Palemoon as well as the other browsers by modifying the Avast.ini file as I saw in this post by DavidR and I quote:

“You could try editing the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Data\avast4.ini file using notepad or a text editor. Add the line OptinProcess=executableFileName.exe to the [WebScanner] section, where executableFileName.exe is the name of your browser executable file.”

I realise this referred to Avast! 4, and there isn’t a similar Webscanner section in the Avast.ini file in Avast! 6. If an entry is created, would Avast! 6 take any notice of it?

Because the WebShield has its own ini file now. It would be in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avast Software\Avast\ folder or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5, XP locations (depends on how you installed/updated to avast 6.

C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast\ or C:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5\Vista or win7 locations.

Many thanks for the info David, Site Blocking is now working in Palemoon. ;D

You’re welcome.
