Avast 6 does not update

I have Avast 6.0.1125 with 110701-2 database. From some days ago it does not update nor the database nor the program. If I force it manually the update seems to start but doe nor make any progress.
I haven’t changed anything that could avoid Avast from communicate. I use only Windows firewall and I have got the same problem with windows firewall activated or not. ???
In configuration I used automatic detection and no proxy. Same result
I try to update to latest version downloading the file from your server but at running it the installation does not start (just a few seconds with a small window showing up)

Try downloading the full setup file from avast site and run it.

Hi Tech, as I said in the post I download the file and try to instal but just snd small windows was shown for a few second snd then nothing else.
As you may noticedout is not just the program but also the virus database that are not updated.

I suggest an installation from scratch:

  1. Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
  2. Download the latest avast! version and save it.
  3. Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
  4. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
  5. Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
  6. Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro. Or even upgrade your key from old versions.
  7. Check and post the results. If, for any reason, you did not solve, try doing the step 3 in Safe Mode anyway.

same issue here, but get “invalid file signature” message the update program terminates on both engine and program updates. fresh install from last night with new download on new computer. is first and only AV install. no errors on installtion, win7 without sp1 installed.

removal by avastclear program and reinstall with fresh download did fix the issue. thanks
