My license expired today! But it says my subscription expires on the 12/3/2011! Please help! And it wont even update the virus definitions no more! Why Avast!, Why did you fail me?
for the free version, or the IS/Pro? if its the IS/Pro version contact support.
It’s IS. I’m in a panic attack right now because my computer already had a virus 2008 and another on the 10th of February, I’m crossing my fingers that they will help me!
The 12/3/2011 12th March 2011 is 14 days away and this is normally when you start getting renewal reminders.
Are you sure that in your panic attack you are confusing the renewal reminder for an expiry ?
It is is saying expired, check your system date, day/month/year and adjust as required.
My time is fine and it won’t let me update the virus definitions, it still says my subscription is still valid but there’s a pop up saying my license is expired.
Not the time, but the date ?
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You may need to reboot after the repair. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual version.
I don’t know if this would work in this instance as it is slightly different to out of sync.
is there a way to just remove the subsription because it says my subscription has has expired but im still protected for 213 days. I’ll think I’ll switch to another av.
Don’t panic. There is obviously a glitch. It says you are still protected…GOOD
So what you need to do is try the Avast Repair:
- Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
- Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
- Reboot.
Did this fix the problem? If not, let us know and we will help you fix this quickly.
If your license is due to expire < 14 days from now, it is NORMAL to get a reminder pop-up from Avast. Again, this is a REMINDER that any time between now and the expiration date you need to renew. We will help you, so there is no need to go elsewhere and no need to panic. OK?
it’s not working i tried repairing it gave me an error message.
And the pop up continues to show every 30 minutes. I think my subscription really has expired.
What does the expiration date say on the Avast main UI page.
Is your DATE correct on your machine?
Yes the date is correct on my machine. And the date says 12/3/2011, and it wont even let me update the virus definitions.
Do the dates on your Avast UI show up as day/month/year or month/day/year?
What did the error message say when you tried the Avast Repair?
The error message said “Error processing packages, please use full update.”, and i don’t even know what the UI is, I’m new to this btw. Appreciate your help.
No problem in helping you…that is what I am here for.
The UI or GUI is the main page when you open up Avast. UI = User Interface.
The error you received means that it was trying to do an update, but failed for some reason. How do you connect to the Internet? Broadband, cable, DSL, dial-up, cellular?
- Avast! Manual Virus Definitions Update Download - avast! Virus Definitions Update - Manual Download vpsupd.exe, approx 31MB. - Save the file to your hard disk, locate where you saved it and double click it and that should carry out the virus definitions update.
pixo, where did you get the license from?
Did you buy it on the official avast store?
A bunch of, well, pirated licenses were blacklisted yesterday.
Thanks
Vlk
Oops… ;D
Okay I’ll confess, but please don’t get mad because I only had 30 days protected, I just watched a video on youtube and got a license from there. Please don’t get mad.
Well… getting a pirated license and going to vendor support forum to complain about invalidating it… not really angry, just - ROTFLMAO! :o ;D
P.S. You had better go and pay for a legal one now to prevent another panic attack.
So you will be asking the judge to take two offences (fraud and compounded fraud) into account.
