Last night i installed avast 6 through the avast client and woke up this morning to a computer that wont fully boot up outside of safe mode. So after checking all my hardware i determined the problem to be the avast upgrade. Rolling back to previous restoration points and a re instillation of avast 6 confirmed this suspicion. All my updates have been through the client.
When windows boots up half way it seems like half the applications are loaded before being stopped. Ctr alt dlt wont work, i cant access anything from the start menu, and and i cant get any exe. to launch.
I am currently running windows 7 64x with AMD architecture
I love this program but this issue makes my computer a mess, i don’t want to get a new av! Can anyone help!?
I have Panda Cloud av, Malwarebyte Anti-Malware, PeerBlock, and Bit Defender. However I’m fairly positive the problem is coming from avast as after rolling back the update on avast every is working normally.
I’ve seen this happen a few times, sorry but the only way out is to uninstall in safe mode, and then re-install.
As said I’ve seen this happen with Avast, after an attempt to restore the system. The issue was Avast self-defense module, that you can’t disable in safe mode ;D The behavior shield can be an issue as well, but again, once you can’t boot normally, you can’t troubleshoot anything since you can’t disable the modules one by one in safe mode. That’s normal, services need to be started for the interface to be operational and allow you to make changes. Sort of a vicious circle.
Other than this other software prevent Windows from booting sometimes, like Comodo Internet Security.
the update to avast 6 is causing me problems, locks my computer as well, a system restore to an earlier date is fine but as soon as avast updates when i reboot the computer the same old problem, so just leaving it in hibernation mode for now, hope gets fixed. I run zonealarm and spyware terminator, never needed anything else so far, the 3 work perfectly together.
