I had AVG antivirus (free) before, but it caused some conflcits with Java wanting to download any files (without giving any notice). So I uninstalled AVG and installed Avast. I used to have Avast before AVG but I think I uninstalled it also due to some BSOD problems.
After installing Avast, I didn’t reboot my PC, and after some minutes the first BSOD appeared. The system now rebooted and continued to use it without problems. Days after, I turn on my PC, start my browser and minutes after browsing, BSOD appears. After reboot, it works perfectly. Now, today, this morning, the same happened. It’s working perfectly after reboot.
Right now, this problem is a minor hindrance, but I would still appreciate to know what’s going on.
Sounds like you may still have remnants of AVG on the system, did you run the vendors removal tool after uninstalling AVG ? if not then i suggest you do so, the removal tool for AVG can be found here http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/
After running the tool i would also run a repair of avast and reboot, if you still recieve problems with avast then a clean install would be in order.
Look for the latest minidump in C:\WINDOWS\Minidump, or if you have W 7 in C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP Compress it with ZIP, RAR or 7Zip and give it an original name. It will also be a good idea to include a text ( use notepad ) with your Forum e-mail and URL of this post.
