see screenshot…with version 6 it was about 9 to 10 seconds…why is it 17 seconds in verison 7 ???
Maybe because there are more features in Avast 7 compared to Avast 6
Maybe this 17.2 seconds load…is the cause of slow/freeze bootup issue for many people ???
In all honesty I couldn’t give a stuff how long a security application takes during boot, I’m more concerned with the protection gives during boot and after.
I have never tested it, but my XP boot takes around 1 minuted to complete boot, you noticed the ‘around 1 minute’ as I generally don’t bother timing it. So I don’t see any appreciable difference in boot duration using avast7.
Here to load everything(all drivers, services, programs, shell extensions and so on)from cold start it takes me around minute(maximum 1:20)
But 7 seconds more is hardly a problem
Only 17.2 seconds on boot ?
My i7-2630QM notebook ( win7x64) takes about 5 minutes on boot with all Avast services enabled.
As a solution, I decided to disable ‘reputation services’.
If all applications loaded at maximum speed you wouldn’t be able to control your computer for the first few seconds in which the apps are loading.
This Win 7 machine boots in just over a minute, the XP one takes about twice as long but the Vista one (which I don’t completely control and is constantly having things added that later have to be cleaned out), takes well over 3 minutes to boot into a useable state. Sometimes it takes that long to connect to the internet. It has always behaved that way though, even when it had MSE installed. Avast 7 has made no noticeable difference from v6 on any of the three machines. I can even say that the full AIS suite boots as fast as the free version did on Win 7 and XP.
Of course some of the difference comes from having a quad core CPU on this machine but I think it’s mainly that Win 7 is just faster.
How did you get the boot times to show TI?
From Log ON to completion of Boot up and loading takes about (2) Minutes on this system.
