After installing this product, I went to register it, however it is not acknowledging that I am entering my surname, therefore not allowing me to complete the registration.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it offers an upgrade but you should also have the potion to decline and continue with the free version.
Can you post a screenshot of the dialogue box ?
