To move on to your accusation about Windows Defender making this thread off-tpoic – that is a sad statement.

The topic is about Windows 7 and as Window Defender cannot be uninstalled from Windows 7 and we are told that Avast works on Windows 7 then we assume the Avast works just fine with Windows Defender only inactive, not uninstalled. THAT IS ON-TOPIC!

So the obvious next step is to define what exactly Windows Defender does in Windows 7. I put forth a PC World article and you state that is wrong.

But by a careful step-by-step process you now admit that Windows Defender does something more than just block spyware, but when pressed on that you start referring to me as a pest. That is also a sad statement. It is uncalled for. I have not denigrated you. Why do you wish to denigrate me? Because you don’t like my questions?

And we now have a very interesting situation, do we not? Can Windows Defender be uninstalled in Windows 8?
