Hi, I don’t think that a sandboxed file is scan throught the cloud. It’s scan for malicious behavior and heuristic analysis.

My guess is that that won’t be a final version of 7 until around the time that W8 RTM is finalized which should be this coming summer. Just a guess but I got I was pretty close on the 7 Beta when I said it would probably become available around the time that W8 Consumer Preview aka Beta became available which will be in about 2 - 3 weeks

first full scan run following a new install took 1h35 … cool 8) … it usually takes 40 minutes here in the same conditions.

Question:

It the intention to make avast! 7 fully compatible with UEFI computers?

I only ask because of the boot scan. My thinking is that boot scans will need to programmed to handle UEFI computers which replace the BIOS and have different Windows kernal load procedure, sequence etc than BIOS computers do.

Does anyone know?

Thanks

Strange behavior I have experienced on my system. I have not seen this reported previously, so excuse me if I missed it. This happens whether I install it on top of version six, or do a clean install. When I go to the virus chest and try to re size the columns to expand the information, the program crashes. No big deal for me since it is a beta. I thought I would mention it. Currently a fresh clean install on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

This has already been reported and will be fixed. :slight_smile:

I saw something from Avast that said they expected v7 to launch about 2 weeks after the start of the public beta.

I’m hoping it happens before March 1. I’d like to introduce it to all the Computer Clubs who are a part of AZACC
I’ll be visiting Arizona during the month of March. :slight_smile:

I hope you are correct. We shall see :slight_smile:

Hello!

Just for information - I found following in the forum of the german distributor:
AVAST plans to release the avast! final version 7 in approximately 2-3 weeks.

Good news but will it be UEFI compatible or will be have to wait for say V8 before seeing that?

@Nesivos: avast! doesn’t need to support EFI/UEFI at all.

Our “Boot time scanner” is a Windows program, it runs when the computer is started during Windows bootup (just like e.g. autochk.exe, it does essentially the same thing as Chkdsk but will only run during bootup). It’s executed as the first application in the loading phase. I played a little bit with EFI programming and this layer is totally separated from Windows applications.

@INGBEAN: that's correct!
I have in the Spanish section of the forum a member saying that " it is really hard to see Avast! 7 for the visually impaired ". What can he do to make it easier ?
@iroc9555: can you please ask for more details? I mean, what's worse compared to version 6? Thanks.

Thanks pk, for your confirmation!

Done. Thank you pk

Since I also saw a post in English by the OP, I also adviced him to continue the conversation here, or to get in touch with you.

Thanks for confirming this.

@pk

Thanks

Not sure if this has been mentioned already.

Sandboxie will not work with Avast 7 installed. Browsers open then crash.

could be some conflict with AIS sandbox driver … just a guess, I don’t use Sandboxie.
