Avast 7 slowdowns on fresh Win 7 x64 install

Just flattened my main PC so I can change it over to 64-bit from 32-bit. Very quick to turn on, boot up and shut down, all I’ve installed are device drivers so far. Now I’ve installed avast, the boot time has roughly tripled. I had this problem on the old 32-bit install, where Soluto told me that it was taking Avast roughly 80s to load up - bit odd. I use Avast on other PCs, including a laptop running Win 7 Ultimate 64, which is fine, the only one I have trouble with is this. I have never used any other security programs so can rule this out, and haven’t got anything else on startup so can rule this out. I am running the latest version which I think is 7.0.1466.

There is nothing else on startup except for the Realtek Audio Manager and AMD’s whatever they call the CCC now.

Specs:
AMD Phenom X4 955 BE
Asus M5A97
MSI HD6870 HAWK
4GB DDR3-1600 RAM
500GB SpinPoint F3
Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Any ideas on how to speed this up? It’s a bit annoying that it’s the only thing holding my PC back and I really don’t want to have to switch AVs.

hey what antivirus program did you use before avast and how did you uninstall it?

any other sequrity programs on your computer like third party firewall?

you could disable thoose two items from the startup list and see if that speed up your startup.

have you defrag your hardrive lately?
