AVAST 7 UPDATE KILLS MY XP??

Help, Avast Lover until the 7.0 Killed my older XP SP3, won’t boot just continues to “restart”. I’ve used the Avast removal utility only to re-install it with the same problem…I’m not a Tech Geek so please be gentle.

The same happens to me. Look at the yesterday 16:24 or so post from Gill. You will see some solutions, but none worked for me… so I went away from Avast, my loved antispy for years :-((

  • Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS)
  • Which version…??
  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which AV did you use before avast!..??

Free Avast
I’ll have to check tonight “which” 7 update.
All I know is the normal “update” and Bam, no Reboot for me.
No other Virus software, it’s had Avast on it for 2 years with regular updates etc without a hitch.

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
