Avast 8.0.1483 free virus scanning problem

I’m trying to scan a folder by right clicking on the folder and selecting the avast scan folder from the drop down menu.

A pop up window with avast! scan on the top,a close and minimise button and no other information in the window except a close button.

When I look in avast program and go to security tab and look in scan now section I see a scan with a name “? ? ? ?” when I click the drop down menu it seems to be scanning every file on my system on all drives which will take hours to perform.

Before the Avast 8 program update just right clicking on the file or folder and scanning from there would only scan that file/folder.

I have repaired the installation in windows control panel program uninstall section and have done that but still no change.

It happens something similar to me. When I start a file scan right-clicking in context menu, it opens the usual window showing that an analysis starts, but it’s a complete disk scan, not the selected file scan. In the main window I also found the “? ? ?” analysis. So, I can’t do any manual file scan :frowning:
