Avast 8.0.1489 IE Add-ons extremely slow

Updated Avast Free Antivirus to 1489 on two machines, IE is very slow afterward because the Avast add-ons are taking 15-60 seconds. When first opened, IE is completely frozen during that time, blank screen and no menu bar. Then when attempting to move to a new web page, the new page takes the same 15-60 seconds to load. Both machines are Win7 64-bit; one update using GUI, the using aswclear in safe mode then a clean install. One machine IE 10, the other IE 9, same issue for both. Disabled the add-ons (Avast Online Security on the IE 10 machine, Avast WebRep on the IE 9 machine), now IE works normally. Only other security software is ZoneAlarm firewall. Any ideas?

Over the last 18 months, at least half my Avast program version updates have brought drama, usually impacting IE. Usually a clean install fixes it, not this time. Very frustrating.

Exact same issue here. Did uninstall, aswclear and clean reinstall and no change. (Win 7 64-bit IE 10) I have disabled avast! Online Security Toolbar and everything is back to normal. Firefox 20.0.1 on same machine is unaffected with add-on enabled.

Same here which I already mentioned in the main 8.0.1489 update thread (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=123563.45). I went back to 8.0.1488 as I wasn’t sure if disabling the add ons would affect the security of the browser. Web Rep still doesn’t work on IE10 Google searches for me so will downgrade yet again to 8.0.1483 when I get the time. For the time being, 8.0.1488 is usable even though there is still a couple of seconds delay when Google loads up.

I had the same problems.

I am running windows 7 and 8 on two machines using IE 8 and IE 10 respectively.
It would take IE 8 and 10 about 40 seconds to load a page, yet FireFox 17 continued towork flawlessly.

I traced the problem to ZoneAlarm Pro 11 that had IPv6 enabled. I disabled IPv6 in ZoneAlarm Pro 11 as follows:

	- Internet Protected Box - View Details
	- Computer Tab
	- Advanced Firewall Settings (also should be On)
	- Advanced Settings
	- Uncheck "Enable IPv6 Networking"
                            - Reboot

That fixed my problem. IE 8 and 10 now work flawlessly.

You cannot enable IPv6 (in ZoneAlarm 11 or maybe other Firewalls) when your ISP or router does not support IPv6

Hope this helps.

Thanks EdwardB! I have ZoneAlarm free and when I disabled IPv6 in it IE 10 starting working great for me too. Firefox and Chrome always worked ok for me.
