Avast 8 can't update program or definitions

I have Avast Internet Security 8 on my Dell Windows 7 Pro x64 laptop. I recently had a major malware infection which incapacitated the machine. I finally recovered the system via Windows 7 system repair which got me to a bootable state. Ran an Avast full system scan which found 12 infected files and quarantined them all. I also have Malwarebytes Anti-malware (registered version) which I ran a full system scan and found no further infected files.

I cannot update Avast program files or definitions. The console message “A new version of the program is available! Latest program version: 8.0.1489” indicates I am out of date. This is the error received “Other HTTP error (404), while trying 50.7.188.186:80//iavs4x/prod-ais.vpx”. I’m attaching the Avast setup.log file.

Help please!

Have you tried downloading the full installer exe file http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe, if installing over the top doesn’t work I’d suggest doing a clean install using the avast removal tool http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
