Determine that Avast 8 is causing display driver errors in Windows Media Center. When installed I can’t play recorded TV content or any TV channels coming through my cable card. Message is that a display driver error will not allow the display of any protected content.
I think Avast 8 is fiddling with my DRM processes.
Uninstall with system restore (3 separate occasions) to pre Avast 8 status immediately restored functionality. Every time I upgraded to Avast 8 the problem came back.
Hello geo57, welcome to the forums.
Could you try this patch:
http://files.avast.com/files/emupdate/20130304.exe
You may need to disable avast! Self defense module, you can disable it from
Main Window → Settings → Troubleshooting → Uncheck “Enable avast! Self defense module” → OK
Neither suggested solutions worked.
Had to remove Avast in favor of another product (Microsoft) which does not interfere at all.
Had been using Avast happily for several years.
