hi there, i have avast version 8 and have re-registered and recieved a key, but i can only see that the program is asking for a file? what do i do with the key as there is nowhere to put it?

but thats the older version of Avast, I’ve got the windows-8-looking-one!! 
If you have the free version, you can only enter that registration key when there are 30 (or 28) days remaining on your existing registration expiry date. Once within that period the Maintenance section of the GUI changes to accept the new registration key.

You’re welcome.
But you should also be able to re-register directly from the Maintenance UI (no need to fill in the form and wait for the email), a lot of things have changed in a year ;D
