Avast 8 IS license problem

Hey,
few days ago I have bought Avast Internet Security 1year, 1PC version.
I’ve received email with the license file (license.avastic) but every time I’m trying to upload the file I have this error message: “Unable to insert the license file. The signature is invalid. The license file is corrupted or modified”. I asked for different license key, just received it and have the same problem.
Tried to insert the license via the Maintenance → Subscribtion - no luck.
Tried to insert it from the explorer by double clicking - same error.
I’ve checked the system (btw, it’s legal XP Home Edition with SP3 and all updates) for viruses, trojans, registry errors - theoretically all is fine. Tried to download the license file from the mail with IE and Chrome - same result.
Someone on the forum, on the different thread said to check the date - it’s fine. I’ve also uninstalled all previous versions with the Avast uninstaller.
Any ideas what else I can do?

  • OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which AV did you use before avast!..??

  • version of AIS - the latest from the official website - 8.0.1488
  • OS - like I said before it’s XP Home Edition with SP3. It’s 32-bit (is there 64-bit of this XP anyway? I have no idea…).
  • no other security related software except avast, however I was using eset online scan to check is there any trojans etc,
  • AV before this avast - old avast antivirus (5 AFAIR) and then 30-day trial of this new avast internet security

  1. Download avast! Internet Security: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

I’ve seen this guide in some other topic. I was trying it before writing here. Any other ideas?

No, I made only the first and the last step. Omitted the rest. . Of course I did exactly like it was said in the instruction. I was even rebooting the system between uninstalling every version.
The license was bought directly from the avast internet security trial version.
