Hi all,
we’ve just released program update for avast! Free/Pro/IS/Premier (8.0.1483). This is a very light program update fixing issues
you mentioned here on the forum related to original release of AVAST 8.

List of changes
• Fixed issue with ZoneAlarm
• Fixed issue with constant CPU frequency
• Fixed issue with video players
• Fixed issue with Virtual PC
• Added some localizations

It should be possible to install this version on top of your existing avast! installation (all settings should be preserved).
Or you can use the in-product updater.

I still cannot run my games!!! Still got this message: Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine
WHY??? What sholud I do? I was trying to install some patches but nothing is resolving this issue!
ANYBODY can tell me why i get this bloody message?

When you fix the issues with the Gui ? Is still look like an ugly christmas white tree with a happy green face.

which firewall is the best with avast 8 free version do not tell me to use comodo firewall or zone alarm firewall. is there any other firewall available to use with avast 8 because if i use avast with comodo firewall then i need to stop the auto stand box and behavior shield from avast and i don’t want to stop any security features from avast so please help me to find out the firewall which matches best with avast 8 free .

i am using windows xp sp2 and sp 3.

Please start your own topic, here is just a release notification thread, not about firewall.
BTW, I think there is no need to disable AutoSandbox and Behav Shield to use Comodo FW…

You didn’t say which version of Windows you are running but if it’s Windows 7 or Vista then I can suggest something that works very well. Download a program called Windows Firewall Notifier. It will turn on the outgoing filtering of the Windows firewall and provide you with an easy to use interface to create outgoing and incoming rules. It’s a great little utility.

Regarding the update, is it advisable to download even if I don’t experience the problems associated with it?

XP, 7 64bit, 8 64bit update via GUI no problems … Never had any with the previous release either ;D

After reboot, I got black screen :frowning:
Ctrl+Alt+Del works, reboot again… now seems working fine.

Vista SP2 32bit / avast! Free

My Vista with 64 bit support locks up after down load while re-booting. I had to restart in safe mode and go to an older Restore point to get my system to work. Does this fix stop that problem and is the Avast 8 now safe for Vista users?

Its nowhere mentioned in the change list… and as a problem “too big” to be forgotten…!
