I have a nice screenshot of this but no way to post it. Avast software update says Chrome isn’t up to date, and that there is a new version, 25.0.1364.172, and that the local version is 0.0.0.0. Chrome says the current installed version is 25.0.1364.172. So Avast isn’t getting the version number from Chrome. Rescan makes no difference.
no need to manually install a new version, the software updater gives a warning when an update is available
When the scan is complete, a list of programs that need to be updated appear on the main screen.

It’s amazing. I appreciate people taking the time to try to help, but if you don’t read what I wrote, it doesn’t really help, does it?

Hi there it appears as you say that Avast is unable to read the version data from chrome
An option initially would be to repair Avast and see if that kick starts it, as there is a possibility that Avast is not reading it properly
Go to control panel > Programmes and features/add remove
Select Avast
On the left will appear a menu of choices
Select repair and once done reboot then see if Chrome is now reporting correctly
And you can update avast to v2014.9.0.2013
I use the software updater to check for updates.
I then go to the vendors website to see if there is an update.
Then I use the vendors website to download the latest version.
This topic is over 10 months old. Does this still apply?
Chrome is now at version 32.0.1700.107 and as Para-Noid stated, update avast!
I didn’t even notice the date ;D just picked up on the new post was the same original poster that didn’t get the answer he was looking for.
