Okay. First off, the new interface reeks. It looks like Windows 8 which is horrible enough, but after updating, my Avast stopped working altogether. The service simply would not start. So after fixing some of the other issues, and going back to a 3 day old restore point, I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I didn’t realize the installer I DLed was for version 8 (WHICH I DON’T WANT!!!), and now I can’t reinstall 7, even after completely uninstalling 8… And to make matters worse, when it initially updated to 8, it could not reinstall the firewall component, and still won’t reinstall it. So now I have an only partially operating security suite, which looks like a 3th grader designed it’s interface, which also POPS UP CONSTANT WINDOWS TO UPDATE OTHER SOFTWARE ON MY SYSTEM! I can hardly wait until next year when I can justify dropping this piece of lawn wafers, and get something that still works… I have been using Avast for years, and I am very very disappointed in the decision to change the totally useful, efficient, and elegant UI that Avast had, for the blocky flat, boring and primitive looking pile of junk it is now. Oh yeh. It also messed up my video drivers somehow by jumping in thinking the installer was malware, WHICH IT WAS NOT. So now I don’t even have a fully working video driver. And AMD can’t figure out the problem, only that Avast caused it.
In the meantime, how do I fix this pile of horse hogeys so it functions again? I am NOT reinstalling windows…
