Avast 8 upgrade breaks VPN routing

After upgrading to latest version last night my VPN connections no longer work. Routing table shows correctly but can not route across VPN. Other PC that I did not upgrade still functions correctly. Uninstalling Avast Internet Security and all products does not fix the problem.

Help would be appreciated.

After exhausting everything I could think of I ended up having to do a Refresh of Windows 8. Now my VPN connectivity is working correctly. Uninstalled Avast until problem is resolved.

:frowning:
I have run into the same issue. I logged on earlier this evening and was VPN connected fine (as I have been since Windows 8 install); then I got a popup saying there was an Avast! Update - Of course, I completely trust Avast! and updated, then restarted.

My first thought was “COOL” what a great new Avast! 8 interface!

My second thought was… “Why am I getting a Error 720 connecting to my VPN”

After three hours and scowering the net, I believe that this must be an issue caused by Avast!.. how can that be?

I know there was one other time about two years ago when an update came out and caused some havoc on Windows where it was incorrectly identifying a virus. They fixed it within hours…

Let’s see if they can fix this even quicker??

On the bring side - I can’t log into work… so game time it is… maybe I will try SimCity again? Perhaps Maxis servers are working properly now.

Not a great month for Software companies I truly trust.

@Alwil → please let me know as soon as this is fixed!

Thanks!
