avast .864 Total system failure AIS

windows 7 x64 Home Premium Avast Internet Security. Updated to .864 thru GUI. Total system failure had to use system restore from Dec. 28 to get system to work. Tried IYOGI support, USELESS!! Didn’t even know about update, no help!!! Uninstalled avast AIS, system seems to be working again. What is going on? Totally unaceptable, what do I do? no security right now.

you will quickly need to get an old version 5.0.677. If this won’t work then you will need to degrade to 4.8 (but license will expire meanwhile). If this won’t help too then uninstall avast in safe mode with Avast cleaner and install Microsoft Security Essentials or Comodo Internet Security as temporary antivirus.
