avast! 9.0.2007 randomly crashing Secunia PSI (Win 7)

Had the same issue with Secunia PSI v 3.0.0.4001 using 8.0.1497 AIS, with Reliability Monitor reporting a “stopped working” error. In both cases, restarting the app would get it going again.

Had to downgrade to 2.0.0.3003 to get 100% reliability back with no more PSI crashes.

2.0.0.3003 was installed when 9.0.2007 was put in place.

Only issues here now is the overall rating is going down from a consistent 10 to lower with version 9.0.2007. With 8.0.1497, 2.0.0.3003 ran perfectly with an overall consistent 10 rating. With 9.0.2007, this error has only happened twice so far, but expect more such errors in the future.

Only change to system has been a clean install of 9.0.2007; used aswclear.exe to finalize removal of 8.0.1497 AIS.

Could be the firewall is blocking PSIA.exe randomly, but normally not, as issue seems to sometimes happen only (twice) when logging on and off accounts?

See .jpg attached for exact error:

I just found this in my event viewer. Secunia has been very slow for me since the release of version 3. I always thought the issue was with Secunia.
edit: Just found a second entry.

Thanks Charyb.

Faulting module is ntdll.dll for you, unknown for me, so they’re different. Here Secunia starts normally, but at some point in time, stops working (running) where the sys tray icon changes from green to red. Since it has only happened twice so far, will keep an eye on it. May have to try a different version to see what happens if it gets worse.

For you, it might be a .NET framework version you may have had an issue with in the past. (6.1.7601.18247) Did one ever fail to complete WU updates? You’ve got one set to ignore?

[EDIT:] Never mind. See below for more info. Got from event viewer also. All are category 1000 notifications.

And same as you, many such stop errors until I removed .7009 from system: (This was the last one, all prior are identical in every way.)
