Hi,
After updating to avast 9.0 The avast service is not running and the scan for viruses option doesn’t work too. I have tried starting the avast service but it doesn’t and keeps on showing “Your system is unprotected”. On going for a quick scan i see this message “Unable to start scan. There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper”. Well i cant make any head or tail out of it so i would like your sincere help in this matter.
I have attached screen shots plz take a look.
Good job starting your own topic. Let us know if this resolves your issue.
Service Pack is?
If you’ve had Norton or McAfee pre-installed but never used, and uninstalled both before installing 8.0 avast!, you’ll need to run the finalized uninstallers for both or the other to get rid of any left-over remnants, as these can affect proper operation of avast! .2007 after it is installed again. Reboot after using both or either tool.
It happened to me too. And when I tried to start the service manually using Component Services, I got Error 1053 http://i.imgur.com/i7snl34.png
I have Avast! Free 2014.9.0.227
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit Service Pack 1
Smadav 2013 Rev 9.4
Avast! Free Version 8
Previously I tried to clear uninstall Avast with the tool I’ve got from http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
And then after reboot, I installed Avast again. It worked for some times. But after a several days of use and several PC reboots, it happened again.
Sometimes after reboot, Avast worked again normally, and then after another reboot, it wont work.
I noticed if I reboot, Avast icon is late to show up on the notification bar compared to other programs (ex: cFosSpeed, Dropbox, XFastUSB, IPMSg, etc)
How can I get Avast to work again? Thanks for the help
See reply # 4. You may need to use additional tools to clean things up. I’d go the uninstall of avast! first, then use any other tools that may apply, and then re-install avast! after that work is complete. Reboot after use of each tool is necessary.
