I recently just got my computer cleaned of 3 trojans that attached themselves to Avast Internet Security in Windows 7 which Malwarebytes found but its cleaned now. What this topic is about is that I turned on my Windows Vista Ultimate virtual machine 5 minutes ago and upon logging in the additional protections that Avast free provides were turned off and I had to hit the fix button to turn them back on. My first question: Is that a sign that a Virus is on my Windows Vista VM? I really hope not because I just recently installed Vista Ultimate back onto VMware Player which was only less than a week ago and I only have 1 install left before I have to pay $100 + for a new Vista Ultimate OS. My second question: is it possible whatever was on Windows 7 before got into my Vista virtual machine?
It might be better if you post this in the “Virus & Worms” section of the forum as there probably is some type of malware present.
When you get to the “Virus & Worms” be sure to read the sticky post at the top by essexboy that tells what programs will need to be run and the results posted in your new post in that section.
Pondus…I have Windows Vista in a virtual machine and from what I remember about reinstalling an OS in a VM every time you reinstall an OS (Windows for example) the OS doesn’t recognize the virtual hardware as the same computer so every time you reinstall you use up whatever installs you have left.
