avast acting weird.

so, i have been getting this weird pop-up message from avast. It tell me that my 1 year subscription has run out and wants me to purchase another subscription. I still have another 9 months left to go before my subscription runs out and avast tells me i am secured, but when i try to update the virus database is says my license file is invalid. Anyone know why?

Sure I know… the license has been blacklisted - because it’s available as a pirated download in the Internet, with thousands of users using it.

Good work Igor

Why are the first two lines of the registration page (avast warning3.png) blacked out? Is it personal info or is that just there? ??? ???

Where did you download it from and what’s the URL?

The OP felt the need to blacken it out before posting it to the forum. It’s not “just there” though.

Whilst they might be personal, given Igor’s comment it could be something entirely different.

Why are you asking one of the avast developers this ???
He hasn’t got a pirated license.

I was asking lespy, not you.

No you weren’t as you quoted Igor in your post. If you are going to address someone directly either quote them or make it clear, e.g. @ lespy, etc. or it can be taken as a general question.

I have not pirated this license, I actually bought the license because i love this product. In fact i bought it for three of my pc’s for a year. I do not know why it is doing this i was hoping one of you could tell me why instead of calling me a pirate. the reason those spots are blacked out it because it is my email, full name on the first line. followed by my customer id number on the second line.

any help would be appreciated.

Well, as I said, your license file was being used by thousands of people in the world - therefore, it has been blacklisted.

If you purchased the license a while ago and just started to get this message, it could be that someone stole your license and it has wormed its way through the Net. So you were one of the unlucky ones who got his license ripped off.

My suggestion is to contact sales preferably by phone and explain to them what happened. They should be able to help you out. Maybe give you another license number. It is worth a call or two.

called tech support, they couldn’t help me, they took control of my system and did nothing.I haven’t called sales yet. funny thing is avast says i am still secured, but i cant update at all. ugh I don’t know what to do or why this happened.

anyone got any other suggestions? or should i just buy it again?

That…or download the free version of Avast.

When reading this threat I understand avast support is not able to find out what is going wrong there and is not able or willing to help out of this trap? If so I better should not by avast antivirus - I am right now to evaluate.

May I ask avast experienced persons how satisfied you are with the product and, in case of problems with your being supported by avast. Thanks a lot in advance and bye…

You are reading wrong… I said what happened.
As for why/how that license got leaked - that’s another question, of course.

sent out a report to avast about whats going on 5 days ago, still waiting for a response. I uploaded my license file to virtual storage so I could retrieve it for the other computers i wanted to use it for. Do you think that it could have been retrieved by someone else that way? My files are set to private so nobody should have been able to get it?

I am a paid user of AIS, and I am totally satisfied with the product and support. I saved my paypal receipt and avast! email, so that if I ever have this problem, I can forward it those who need it. Maybe the OP saved his receipt since he says he didn’t pirate it?

yes i still have my receipt from when i bought the product and i sent a copy with my ticket to sales. I have not received any type of response yet and its been 6 days?
