Avast, AdAware and A returning gang of worms

Whenever I run AdAware, it seems to prompt Avast into finding the following:

C:\DOCUME~1\me\LOCALS~1\Temp\AAWTMP\C33243156\FFCE7\GetAccess.class

JS:ClassLoader-7

C:\DOCUME~1\me\LOCALS~1\Temp\AAWTMP\C33243156\FFCE7\InsecureClassLoader.class

JS:Exploit-Bytverify-11

C:\DOCUME~1\me\LOCALS~1\Temp\AAWTMP\C33243156\FFCE7\Dummy.class

VBS:Malware [Gen]

C:\DOCUME~1\me\LOCALS~1\Temp\AAWTMP\C33243156\FFCE7\Installer.class

Win32:Trojano-477 [Trj]

… this seems to happen EVERY time i run AdAware, but curiously Avast never seems
to find these viruses on its own and Ad Aware doesn’t report finding anything either.

Can anyone tell me whats going on?

Many thanks

Linda

Hi and welcome,
Could you try cleaning out all your temps then scan again and this should be gone. If you want a one click cleaner i suggest http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/ This should be part of normal houskeeping and run once a week.
good luck

This may just be avast! detecting Ad-Aware’s defintions as they are unpacked into a temporary file.

If this malware is really on your computer, it will be in your Java cache

The easiest way to delete the Java cache is with CCleaner:

Make sure your Java is the latest version and remove older versions from Add/Remove programs.

hi

Cloussau: i already run clean up at least once a week, and always before running ad-aware,

FreewheelinFrank: i’ll do as suggested - many thanks to you both!

(Knew I’d seen this before!)

Personally when I do a scan with any other off-line security related scanner I pause Standard Shield.

That way there can be no conflict between the two or possible detection of signatures used by the orher scanner. Also if for no other reason it usually speeds the scan with avast not scanning files being accessed by the other program (duplication).
