You know what is really annoying on the web these days is Ads and pop-ups. It would be very cool if the Avast team could integrate an adblocker that works similar to “Adblock Plus” in firefox and “Simple Adblock” in Internet Explorer. Avoiding ads with scams and pop-ups that often cause drive-by-downloads is a must these days. For example, in chrome you can install Adblock Plus, but it’s limited in functionality and effectiveness because of the code-design in chrome, which for some reason it performs ten times better in Firefox while IE is almost as good with just the FREE “Simple Adblock”. It would be very good to design this component for Avast! in the future to be just as effective but unique for only Avast!, in which it is able to be updated and fully customizable.
Seeing that blocking ads is not security related I don’t see avast getting into the ad-block business.
Avast is in the security business and not the anti-annoyance business. This is something best left to browser add-ons.
