Avast! Administration Console on Windows 8 Pro

Hello,
I’m having an issue that I’m hoping I can get some help with. I recently clean installed Windows 8 pro. I’ve installed the Avast Administration Console but I cannot get it to work. It installed without any error but when I go to access it I cannot get it to load. Upon checking the services I see that the Administration Console service isn’t running. When I try to start the service it fails with this error message:

“Windows could not start the avast! Administration Console service on
Local Computer.

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in
a timely fashion.”

Along with this error I see the following event ids appear in the Application Event Viewer:

I’m really not sure if this is related to Windows 8 or if there is something I can do to get it working. Does anyone have any ideas of some things I can try?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome,
win 8 is not supported yet for installing the SOA administration console…but maybe you can install it on a server or other machine (read here for the requirements http://www.avast.com/endpoint-protection-suite#tab2) and then try to access to the SOA console via web browser from your win 8 pc…

Okay cool. Thank you. At least now I know its a Windows 8 thing. I’ll install it to another workstation. Thanks again!

You’re welcome
