Avast allows phishing site to take over using Chrome on Android 7.0

On ebay certain listings jump to what Google claims is a phishing site. The root url for this site is"http://vi.vipr.ebaydesc.com". It is very annoying because, while an item’s description is displayed, not everything is assessible like it is on the “normal” ebay site. Why isn’t Avast blocking the site and how can I change that?

Hi, your message has been forwarded to the virus lab. If they qualify it as a malicious website, Avast will start blocking it. Thank you for reporting it.

Hi, sorry for my overlooking the obvious - Samsung Browser is not one of the 13 browsers supported by our WebShield.

To make the protection work correctly, you need to have the latest AMS version (6.9.2) and check the following:

  • open the Avast antivirus
  • tap the “three-lines-icon” in the upper left corner
  • select “Settings”
  • select “Protection”
  • turn the “Web Shield Lite” on
  • turn the “Web Shield with Accessibility” on

If any permission is missing, you will be asked for it. Then the protection will work within all the 13 supported browswers.
