Avast "Always" Wants To Run On Bootup

I’ve been using Avast 4 Home now after years of using AVG as well as recommending it to my customers. Now I am totally stumped about something. I recently picked up a Bagel and a Beagle virus and although Avast said it stopped it in time, it got on my system anyway.

I decided to have Avast perform a Boot Time Scan which did find the viruses and removed them. Now, every time I reboot, Avast wants to scan on boot up. I went into where you Schedule a boot time scan and told Avast not to scan on boot up. Still, every time I reboot, Avast wants to run…

Any suggestions please?

Mike

Some variants of Beagle/Bagle virus are quite dangerous and destroy avast installation

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).

In XP/Vista, if you press F8 when starting Windows and select ‘Last known good configuration’ from the boot menu, the boot scan should not be started.
Or just run:
C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\Avast4\sched.exe /D

Can you test?

1-turn off system restore point.
2-click F8 on reboot and start safe mood
3- run a full system scan with avast
maybe the virus starts on startup …makes it hard for antivirus to remove…
btw…um no expert…but just trying to help.
