avast and bsod ?

hi,

I’m getting bsods with a "page not found in a non paged area " each time I try to open/drag to the thrashbin a folder of downloaded files… I’m definitely not tech savy , but I’ve read that it could be caused by the antivirus (avast btw does not mark the folder as malicious)…can anybody help?
thanks in advance!

  • Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS)
  • Which version…??
  • OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which AV did you use before avast!..??

asyn you bet me to it :wink:

thanks for the reply

-avast free ;

-7.0.1474;

-win7 32 bit;

-no ;

-panda,but it was a looong time ago .

OK. So, why do you think it’s related to avast!..??
Does it work if you disable the shields temporarily…??

as I said I’ve read that this kind of error may be related to the antivirus (and frankly I would hope so because I figure- perhaps wrongly- that it could be easily fixed…).

yes ,I tried disabling the shields but to no avail.

Well, most likely it’s not related to avast! then.

are you sure ? is there anything running in the background that might interfere?

…do you have any suggestion on how to deal with this problem … I’m really at a loss here…

Do you have any minidumps at C:\windows\mindumps ?

If you think it might be related to avast!, please upload your minidump(s): ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming/

yes I have quite a few of them in the directory… should I upload all of them?and how do I do that?

Another alternative is to zip the last 3
Upload to a file sharing site, or place in dropbox if you have it
Post the link here and I will have a look see

I think I may have solved the problem… as it was that one folder which caused on opening /dragging the bsods I finally managed somehow to delete it .

along the process I tried uninstalling/reinstalling avast but I guess after all it wasn’t the culprit :slight_smile: .

thanks again for the help.

You’re welcome.
