Avast and C&C Renegade

I discovered this problem in Jan. 05 (don’t know what version of Avast it was then). While playing C&C Renegade, I noticed more disconnects from the server than before (4-5/night), where as before January, a server interuption resulted in a pause in the game, now it resulted in a disconnect. This caused me to back out to the desktop and having to restart the game. While backing out, my cable modem resets (lights go out, sometimes for as long as 10 seconds mostly for a second). I tolerated it long enough before I got serious and started troubleshooting!

I reinstalled XP and put in only mb settings, Zone alarm home, avast home and Renegade. Fired up the game and got the same results. I then disabled Avast, and voila!, the game ran normally.

I don’t like being online without my anti-virus realtime protection. Any suggestions for this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Just add the game server to the ignore list in the webshield provider.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll try that, but I don’t know the server address, can I enter the name instead?
