Avast and DIVX files - cant open Divx player

I’m having the same problem trying to watch avi files. I’ve found that if I reboot the computer before running DIVX it will work fine for a few hours. Then out of the blue when I try to open another video, with DIVX player still open, it will tell me to open DIVX player in sandbox. If I cancel the sandbox request and drag the file into DIVX player it will run fine. I will try the suggestions listed here, but based on what Craig has said it doesn’t sound like it will help. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

I’ve left this problem alone for a week or so, and tried to open a Divx file this morning. No problem. Opened fine, tried it with several files, all of which worked ok.

I havent had any problems with other file types, but we’ll see what happens.

This is becoming even more annoying. Now, when opening the same DIVX file as this morning, it tells me to open it in Sandbox ! And, my machine is still hanging and needs rebooting when I do open it in sandbox. >:(

I am out of ideas on this one - I believe it will need a developer to look at this and try to resolve it

Had the same problem but to be honest the only thing i wanted from divx was the web player which avast has no problem with the converter or the other 1 but it has the problem with the player was able to uninstall the other 3 besides the web player. to do this i went into control panel>uninstall program> divx setup>uninstall checked the ones i didnt need hit uninstall avast popped up saying error with the opening potential blah blah blah> hit the pop down bar and hit cancel opening and was able to uninstall it properly.
