I have Avast Free Antivirus and it is not scanning my email service. I have yahoo email. Can you please help me?

As you only use online email and not a locally installed mail client then scanning is performed by the Web Shield.
Online email is otherwise known as webmail.
Webmail always uses your browser to get and read your mail.
You’ll note when you download an attachment through Yahoo! mail, you should see Symantec anti-virus scanning that attachment as it comes in to your computer.
Avast does not scan webmail, whether it is yahoo, gmail, bing, or other. But it does scan internet data in real time as it goes in and out via WebShield. The internet data going through your browser is automatically scanned by avast as long as WebShield is active.
