I just set-up Thunderbird to access an Exchange IMAP account. The Avast On- Access Protection says that “The Provider is waiting for a subsystem to start.” Is this a problem, or is it just waiting for Thunderbird? Also, the icon that comes up while a scan is happening stays for minutes when I have the client open.
Look like you Started the Outlook/Exchange provider, which is only required by MS Outlook (not express) or MS Exchange and it is waiting for those programs to start. Terminate the Outlook/Exchange provider.
My mistake. I thought that I should use the Outlook/Exchange provider because I was accessing Microsoft Exchange Server (Outlook Web Access). You’re saying I only need it if I use the Outlook client AND Exchange? (I hope that’s clear, Microsoft should really use more names. Outlook, Outlook Express, Outlook Web Access…sheesh!) Thanks for your help, and sorry for my lack of clarity.
If you aren’t using the MS Outlook client (I didn’t say AND I said OR implying the MS Exchange client) you don’t need the outlook/exchange provider, the server you are accessing doesn’t matter. At least that is what I believe, terminate the outlook/exchange provider and see if the message stops and you are able to use thunderbird.
I believe that on the next release of an updated outlook express it will be called something entirely different, which I can’t remember.
Yes David Microsoft is going to call the new OE Windows Live Desktop … so you won’t mistake it for Windows Live Mail, Windows Office Live, Windows Live OneCare or Windows Live Gallery.
Well Microsoft really know who to Live it up ;D what a name, what an email client has to do with a desktop is beyond me ::), sounds very like the old windows active desktop to customise your desktop but, an email client name ??? Where do they dream these names up and what were they smoking at the time ;D
