Avast and Firefox Issue

I haven’t been here to the forums for some time, so maybe somewhere this topic was covered. Ever since I installed the latest Avast IS 2016.11.1.2253 it seems Avast wants me to use Google as my browser— but I don’t like Google!
I’ve always used Firefox, kept it up to date along with the few add-ons I use for it. Why does it take 20-30 seconds longer ( than before) for Firefox to open when I start the browser. It’s frustrating some times… I have several other minor glitches with the new program update of Avast. One, I used the repair feature and bam! (and that’s not malwarebytes) now the entire program takes at least 2 minutes to load… crazy, strange things going on.
I know if I do an uninstall run Avastclear and reinstall, most of the little glitches will be fixed. However, it does not make me too happy that Avast wants me use Google as a browser. Any ideas on the Firefox and Avast not playing nice together??

Thanks and have a terrific Tuesday

I use firefox exclusively (on both my systems) and I’m not being hassled to use google chrome, so I don’t know what your settings are.

Something that may or may not have an impact - AvastUI > Settings > Troubleshooting - and check the ‘Do not use Chrome as Avast default browser’ option.

   Thank you David. Something so simple. That was the issue. High five!

You’re welcome.

It isn’t particularly obvious what this option might do or be for.

I always thought this option somewhat strange, especially if I haven’t got Chrome. But there are some (or used to be) internal parts of avast that have web links. I believe if you use any of these if the option is unchecked then it may offer Chrome.

But to me it seems to have a dual purpose.
