avast! and folders with Chinese characters

After updated to the latest version of avast! (4.7.986 Home Edition), I found that avast! does not scan files if selected folders have Chinese characters in its names. The avast! Simple user interface and Explorer extention (ashQuick) have the same problem.

For example, If I select “E:\Virus”, avast! will detect virus in “E:\Virus\病毒”. But if I choose “E:\Virus\病毒” directly, avast! scans 0 file.

Hope avast! can fix this problem.

What is the setting for “Language for non-Unicode Programs”?

Control Panel → Regional and Language Options → Advanced.

“Chinese (PRC)”

Does the same problem apply to the on-access scanner, too?
Ie. what if you e.g. place the eicar test file to that folder? Does the Standard Shield detect it?

Thanks
Vlk

There is no problem with the on-access scanner. It detected the file when I save it.

I have tried to change the setting of language for non-unicode programs. The problem disappeared if I select English. It is not bad for me for I does not use Chinese software very often. However, most users in China cannot change that.

The problem appeared again when I restored the setting to Chinese(PRC). Hope avast! can fix this problem or find a better solution.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, this problem is also consist in avast! 4 Professional Edition 4.7.986.
But,compare with Home Edition,It’s the other way round.

Oh,there is a other problem in Professional Edition 4.7.986.
That is,avast could detect virus, but could not processing the virus.

When I rename the compress as “422.rar”,this circs have change.

Two virus are detected, but avast only can process one.
I’ve forget to show this question just.
Sorry for it. :-[

Tesuke, it’s that actually MiniQQ? I use Miranda with the QQ plugin for some basic messaging:

The program: http://www.miranda-im.org/,
and the plugin: http://addons.miranda-im.org/details.php?action=viewfile&id=3348

Pidgin (Gaim) also does some basic QQ messaging:
http://www.pidgin.im/

No audio or video but it’s safe. Be careful there are many Q coin thieves out there…

Thanks for your advice.
But I don’t use MiniQQ.It’s only a file with virus infection.
I use piaoyunQQ all along

After all posts, I’m not sure… does avast detect this file or not?
