I just bought a new laptop (with Vista and all that) and installed Avast on it. But right after I did so I couldn’t load any websites. It kept saying that IE “couldn’t load the page”, but there was nothing wrong with my network connection or anything. I restarted my computer and same thing- not loading. So after a while of futile efforts (I’m not exactly tech savvy) I uninstalled Avast, and all of the sudden- IE loads websites again.

well the way to fix this depends on how you get on the internet. if you use a connection that is always on (LAN for example) then you will need to go to the settings of your avast system and the connections tab. there you will need to select the appropriate check box and apply the changes if this does not work try restarting your computer and see if the changes are still there if not then you will need more help than this
What firewall are you using, does it allow ashwebsv.exe access? Are you using a router?
