Avast and it’s scareware products forced me to uninstall on all computers.

I think it’s totally unacceptable to be advertising your products with these advertisements to upgrade the product it gets worse and worse with every product release… I have uninstalled avast protection on all of my family’s computers. I’m so sick of getting calls from family members you are literally freaking novice users out. I have settled with using windows defender as it has recently scored higher than avast in recent testing. I’m seriously surprised companies like Malwarebytes don’t detect you’re program as a PUP. The program reminds me of the rouge antivirus software of 2007-2009. Avast has become a crap tastic product at best. Would love to see the day avast is detected as a PUP if they continue to push this crap!!! avast was best in 2013 they didn’t add all the registry cleaners and junk.

Kaspersky security cloud behaves better then avast it’s free and very good!

Sorry but I will not use something the US considers unsafe.

Windows defender is still a better option to Avast especially if you configure it right it is a beast!!! Regarding Kaspersky… The software like Avast uploads suspicious files that it does not (recognize or thinks is suspicious). It’s not kasperskys, fault that an NSA agent loaded spying malware onto his/her PC and Kaspersky automatically uploaded it to it’s servers as suspicious Avast would of done the same thing. That’s just a stupid intelligence, agent’s negligence. As long as you don’t work for national US security you should be fine… Liberals, just made a big deal of it because of the trump putin thing it’s safe to use Kaspersky. All in all that US intelligence agent should have known better…

Latest version of Bitdefender free also runs very good, no ads or nags

I am becoming frustrated as well with all the costly upgrades. May try Malwarebytes Premium.

Malwarebytes even the premium version is not a true replacement for an AV program.

if you run it in conjunction with defender you have evrything you need ... and no nag screens

I would consider that politically motivated hogwash, Kaspersky is as safe as any other major AV.

It’s amazing to see such products do so well I for one will never go back to Avast as they have lost all my respect and trust. Now windows defender and Kaspersky are taking the prize.

Good Luck and Happy New Year. Your computer , your choice.

I used to install avast! on almost any system that came across my view. Haven’t done so for a very long time. Mostly because all systems where I installed avast! ended up having stupid Chrome installed even though all users already had Firefox or Opera at that time. Not to mention all the other apps. And constant nags for “premium” features most users don’t even understand what they are for, they were just annoyed. I know avast! needs to earn money too, but I’m pretty sure there are other ways than being obnoxiously annoying with it.

Whats security applications do you now use? I use windows defender and Kaspersky love them both. Kaspersky security cloud free is a very very advanced application to protect even click happy users from malware. have yet to come across a families PC that is infected with Kaspersky security cloud free installed. system watcher is the best defense system period…

Don’t use 2 AV’s (not recommended), when you install Kaspersky then WD will disable itself.

I do not use both products together lol… I use them on separate different machines.

Oops didn’t know you were speaking about different machines  lol

I, too, used Avast for many years and then got fed up with ads., too much RAM and slow shut-down.
Changed to Comodo for HIPS, A?V and FW, regained ~300MB of RAM, programmes opened faster and shut-down is now 4 - 5 secs.
Tried Avira -heavy; Kapersky, similar and a couple of others. Trouble is, most need a separate FW and that’s also a difficult choice - usually run Comodo FW without A/V.

No they dont, the built in windows firewall (in os newer then XP) is plenty good for home users
