Avast and lexplore ?????

 I have read all the posts that you gentleman have posted to help me. Don’t feel that I can do all of the things suggested to get rid of (lexplore.exe). I just got blown out by (lexplore.exe not responding) had to do a restart, then was locked out of my home page, even after several restarts. Finally did a shutdown, and same thing !!still could not login to home page.(was logged on to interned, blank white screen, could get to any other web sight using tool bar). So I logged of, changed screen saver time to (1min),left avastss take over and run a few seconds, moved mouse to stop screen saver, logged back on and WOLA !!!Home page.(myway.co)

If I pay the price for Avast Pro. Do you think it would corral (lexplore.exe) for me, and I can put it in the chest and forget !!! Thanks

There is essentially little difference in the Pro and home versions as far as detections go they use the same virus signature files (detections). So no I doubt it would help.

You should really have posted this in the Topic/s about your iexplore.exe (or rather lexplore.exe) problem as that would bring it to the for again.

I have two other posts out there from yesterday (siteadvisor)(Mcafee) no replies ??. I need this answer you gave me NOW . and i do thank you

I suggest you follow the general cleaning procedure for iexplore.exe:

  1. Disable System Restore and reenable it after step 3.
  2. Clean your temporary files.
  3. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on.
  4. Use SUPERantispyware and/or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.
  5. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  6. Make a HijackThis log to post here or, better, submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster or Windows Advanced Care.
  8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.

I just did steps 1-4 over the weekend. Don’t think steps 5 and on are supported by ME. (not sure) Thanks

Probably step 5 is not supported on Me… but others will be good.
Is your computer clean now?

Have to do step 6 and 8 yet. will get back. So far CLEAN.
