Does Avast still protect those that use Linux ???
I recently installed Ubuntu on a Laptop that dragged it’s feet running Windows.
I’m now looking for protection and would love that protection to come from Avast.

I think asking this sort of question on an antivirus forum will no doubt incur the answer of yes .
However i think the information already linked will provide suitable answers.
Avast like the majority of security companies would like to scare you into believing that millions of parasites are just waiting for us all to log on.This is pure babble and is totally unsubstantiated.
i use linux and have never used an antivirus.

Avast for Linux was very resource intense on my systems, so I just run Clam AV now. While linux is quite resistant to viruses, it is possible to get infected with a rootkit. Therefore, I would recommend installing chkrootkit and rkhunter. Both should be available from your distro’s repository, or your favorite PPA.
