Since installing Avast 8 I have been unable to receive email via outlook 2007. I did phone the support number. the first lady I spoke to was virtually unintelligible over the phone line and I found that experience frustrating. Eventually I got through to another guy who took control of my system and scanned through and pointed out to me issues that I already knew about. This is a pretty old and knackered beast running windows 7 and both memory and disc drive are at the end of their useful life. However, the software all works ok if slowly… until avast 8 came along.
I have Avast Internet Security - paid edition, Malwarebytes anti malware Greatis’ Unhackme and regrun reanimator. They have coexisted nicely with just the odd electronic conflict for over 2 years each one catching the odd eSkunk that happened to get by the others. Till this avast update came along. Has anybody else had any experience of trying to get Outlook back on track with this release of avast?
What I did find objectionable was that the operative washed his hands of any avast problem and tried to sell me a £100 maintenance contract!!! The advice he did give failed to cure the problem.
Clearly, the software company that I have grown to trust has had a change of philosophy somewhere and are now producing rubbish software to upsell you contracts! When my contract runs out in August, it looks like ESET have a new customer.
